Verdi System is Key to Accelerating Debug for Korea’s IT SoC Industrial Infrastructure
San Jose, Calif., January 9, 2006 — Novas Software, Inc., the leader in debug systems for complex chip designs, today announced that the Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency (KIPA) has adopted the Novas VerdiTM Automated Debug System as its standard debug platform. KIPA is a nonprofit organization that offers technology development infrastructure and incubation support to small chip design companies.
“The Verdi system will be provided to start-up information technology (IT) development enterprises in Korea to accelerate functional verification for system-on-chip (SoC) and ASIC designs,” said Ho Gil Cho, EDA supporting leader of KIPA IT SoC Center. “KIPA is committed to promoting the development of advanced SoCs in support of our goal to create ten mid-size companies with $100 million in sales by 2007.”
“SoC design firms are in a constant race against time to cut design cycles and quickly respond to market demands. The ability to debug complex designs faster and improve overall verification productivity can provide a significant competitive advantage. Novas’ Verdi debug platform is widely recognized as the industry standard solution and the best suited for SoC design,” said HunJin Ko, president and CEO of KIPA. “We are pleased to have the most advanced debugging solution available as part of the SoC infrastructure that will help our member companies effectively compete in the global market.”
“We are truly honored by KIPA’s confidence in our debug platform to help its member companies shorten development cycles for their SoC products,” said Scott Sandler, president and CEO of Novas.
Verdi is a complete mixed-language debug system that automates the process of understanding how complex IC and SoC designs work or why they do not. It provides a universal debug platform and common interface for accessing all the design knowledge and analysis engines needed throughout the verification tool and methodology flow. Engineers can analyze cause-and-effect relationships and visualize design behavior over time to better understand and accelerate debug of third-party intellectual property, legacy design code and new or unfamiliar components.
